Soil testing is a critical first step before laying any foundation. By examining soil strength, composition, moisture behaviour, and bearing capacity at depths of at least 1.2m, builders can identify risks such as settlement, shrink–swell movement, or hidden weak layers. These insights ensure the foundation is designed accurately and that concrete is placed under conditions that allow it to perform reliably, reducing the likelihood of future structural issues. Proper soil investigation enhances safety, optimises the use of concrete and other materials, and supports the construction of smarter, stronger, and more resilient structures from the ground up.
